The speed at which businesses are being registered for VAT appears to be improving. According to the Government the average processing time for VAT registrations for August, September and October was 42 days, 39 days and 28 days respectively.
Never missing an opportunity to "spin the message" the Government spokeswoman said the figures 'represent an upturn in HMRC performance, and this is an early sign that the improvement measures that are now in place are starting to have an impact'. Their target, it should be said, is 14 days. |
