Brought down to earth
I have just started a book by Ron Baker, an American business guru who I have met a few times and someone who I consider a friend. Ron is a  CPA (Certified Public Accountant) in the States and I am a chartered accountant. I thought we had a great deal in common but

on opening the book "Measure what matters to customers" I was hit by a quote from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe:

Things that matter most

Must never be at the mercy of things that matter least

The first sign we don't know what we are doing is an obsession with numbers.

Well that's me told and I'm only reading the preface!
