HMRC hit nightclub dancer with a £57,000 bill

HMRC were unimpressed with Funda Catal's arguments that she didn't realise that non-British citizens had to pay tax and charged her £45,000 in tax, £8,000 in penalties and £4,000 in interest.
The moral of this episode is:
  1. HMRC will probably catch up with you at some stage.
  2. When they do you will be charged penalties and interest on top of the tax which is due.
  3. It's better to register with HMRC, find a good accountant and let them minimise your tax bills
  4. You'll sleep better!
Don't get tied up with tax.
